November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month

According to the ASPCA, November is now Adopt a Senior Pet Month. Personally, I'm a big fan of anything that helps promote senior pet adoption.

In the course of my work with the homeless pet project, I have noticed that seniors with good pics and interesting bios do get adopted. And not just the little ones either.

Every business and service industry out there recognizes what a significant part of the market that Baby Boomers are. Successful pitches for senior pets stress the convenience of bypassing puppyhood's less engaging bits such as housetraining, obedience training and of course the getting up in the middle of the night thing. They emphasize how adopting a senior is a compassionate act that makes a difference.

Here in Nova Scotia, we have several lovely senior pets available for adoption. If you're looking for a good dog who will be a settled companion, there is Tessa , Brett , Duke , Spirit , Spirit , Happy ,Sheba , Pal , Lady Sophia and Kips . If you would like a lovely cat with years of love left to offer, Boomerang , Oreo , Diva , Keri and Beamer are all available for adoption.

Adopting a senior pet isn't just a lifesaving act of kindness that makes a real difference - there is more love than one could ever imagine waiting for those who truly 'get' the Zen of senior pets.
